Rowan’s Story Vlog 1

And we’re on!  AoE is very excited to say the Rowan’s Story Project has begun.

Assembly of Elephants is taking this pilot project into 2 schools (Yeronga SHS and MacGregor SHS) and working with senior drama students to create or re-make scenes on gender equity, controlling behaviour, sexting and consent to distribute sexts, domestic dysfunction and violence. The students hone and expand their drama skills while they re-work the scenes to create the outcomes they want – personal agency in areas that are critical in the lives of young people. We’ll come together at SunPAC to showcase the work to their communities and talk about the process. That’s Stage 1!

This project has been supported by the Queensland Government, through Arts Queensland.
Many thanks also go to Matthew Farrell and the crew at SunPAC, Adrianne Jones and the wonderful, thoughtful drama staff at Yeronga SHS, and Bec Meale and the equally committed and enthusiastic drama team at MacGregor SHS, Bernadette Cochrane and the 2nd and 3rd year Drama students at UQ
